Back
in 1929 it was Bishop Francis Hodur's vision to establish a
facility that would provide a natural and wholesome environment
for youth; a serene setting for the elderly and a place suitable
for religious retreats, patriotic picnics and family gatherings.
Over the years the retreat center, now named in honor of its founder,
has grown as big as the Bishop's dream.
The Bishop Hodur Retreat & Recreation Center is part of a 450-acre tract
situated on one of the highest elevations of Pennsylvania's Pocono mountains.
The center's facilities are just as impressive as its scenic beauty. |

The
Bishop Hodur Retreat & Recreation Center is ideally suited
for youth camps, seminars, picnics, family reunions, spiritual
and religious retreats. A modern dormitory which
can accommodate up to 110 people.

up to 300 people for meetings

- Off road parking
on the center's grounds for 250 cars
- There is a separate
kitchen facility and pavilion
- Apple orchard
picnic grove
- A swim complex
with a large inground pool staffed by trained lifeguards
- Two baseball
fields on the complex
- Numerous wooded
hiking trails
- A large fishing
pond bordered by a pine grove teeming with wildlife indigenous to the area
which can be observed and admired.
- For spiritual
events, a large, contemporary chapel at an adjacent
facility, The Manor at Waymart.
